Tåkeheimen is a DNT cabin situated next to the second largest glacier, Svartisen. The cabin with its beautiful surroundings gives excellent opportunities to explore the highest mountaintops of Meløy commune.

Summerguiding to Tåkeheimen (June - October)

In the summers we organize day- and overnighttrips to Tåkeheimen. Enjoy staying in the cabin with the most amazing view in Norway. It's beautiful surrounding is breath-taking and the midnightsun adds to this. It takes about 4 hours to walk up to the cabin, and 5 hours up to Helgelandsbukken, one of the highest mountains in the area. 

 

Winterguiding to Tåkeheimen (November - June)

Rocks'n Rivers organizes also guided wintertours (in the timeperiod of november til june) to Tåkeheimen. This mountainski tour goes over the glacier and takes about 6-7 hours. In the early wintertime you can enjoy the northern lights. In mai and june you can enjoy long days in the sun and impressive mountainscenery.

Skiing to a cabin with a backpack is great fun. You should be capable of skiing up- and downhill in unprepared trails, carrying a backpack for 6–7 hrs, even if weather and snow conditions are bad. All our tours are for skiers with previous experience with mountain cross-country skiing. It is also highly recommended to undertake some training to build your fitness before you come.

Norway shares the same latitude as Alaska, Greenland and Siberia, but compared to these areas Norway has a pleasant climate. Especially during the winter it could be quite stormy and changeable weather, it is therefore important to be prepared for this. Please request our special packinglist. The temperature in the mountains can be ranging from around +10 to -15 °C, but with wind it will be even colder. In the self-service cabins of DNT there are no reservation of beds. All participants must help with cooking, dishwashing, water supply, cleaning and general housekeeping.

NB: Reservation is binding. By cancellation of the trip later than 16 hours before depature, we will bill you with NOK 400,- pp.
