Svartisen is Norway's second largest glacier and covers an area of 370 squarekilometer. It is also the lowest glacier on the European mainland. This makes it easy accessible for glacier trips and other adventures. The highest point on the glacier is 1594 m. above sea level and the Engen-glacier has a thickness of up to 450 meter.
The name 'Svartisen' comes originally from 'svartis', which is an old word that denotes the deep blue ice colour and the contrast to the white snow and ice on the iceplateau. The ice masses offer a range of different colour nuances from blank crystal-clear ice to turquoise-white bright and dark blue colours.
Guided glaciertrips
The glacier trips that we arrange are suitable for mostly everyone with a normal physical condition. The minimum age for children is 12 years (shoe size 36). Previous mountain experience for children is recommended.
The trip takes about 4 hours. Bring warm clothes, gloves, sunscreen, sunglasses and waterproof clothing.

Price for a 4 hour guided glacier trip: 800,- NOK pp Incl. glacierguide, shoes and all necessary glacier equipment.
Minimumprice: 2800,- NOK for less than 4 persons.
Reservation is binding, and the trips are not dependend on the weather.

We also offer guided mountaintrips to Helgelandsbukken (1454 m.) and Tåkeheimen (1071 m.) Tåkeheimen is a very nice cabin situated next to the glacierplateau, high up on the mountain. Norway's most fantastic view! Helgelandsbukken is Meløy's highest mountainpeak.
